But the less data embedded in online media, the less energy needed to transfer it, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint. So, to launch Volkswagen’s new EV, we reduced their website to almost nothing, using 1.5 million ASCII text characters that created the illusion of car photography. This drastically reduced the embedded data, resulting in a website that’s 99% more carbon-efficient than over 2 million sites tested.
